The production area of Slovenski med z zaščiteno geografsko označbo (Slovenian honey with Protected Geographical Indication) covers the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia.
Kočevski gozdni med (Kočevje Forest Honey) is obtained in the Republic of Slovenia’s area comprising the municipalities of Kočevje, Kostel, Osilnica, Loški Potok, Sodražica, and Ribnica, as well as in part the municipalities of Črnomelj, Semič, Dolenjske Toplice, Žužemberk, Velike Lašče, and Dobrepolje.
The area of production extends over 720 square kilometres and includes the municipalities of Komen, Sežana, Divača, and Hrpelje-Kozina.
